Default What do you do when you're sick???

A Question for all my Christian Friends....

What do you do when your sick???

Do you make an appointment to see your Doctor?
Or do you follow the instructions in your Bible??

The Bible says.........
James 5:14-16 (King James Version)
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

So which do you do? Call your Doctor or call your Elders??

If you fail to follow the Bible's instructions is it because you do not believe in the efficacy of the Bible's health plan? Do you lack faith? Do lack trust in God and his Word?

When you go see your Doctor rather than your Elders are you demonstrating your lack of belief, faith, and trust?

Will you miss out on the grand prize because of your inadequate deficient spirit?

Please don't encourage them.

The death of children at the hands of parents who follow this Biblical injunction is a real human tragedy, not a cheap debating point.

Of course, there wasn't anything there that said don't go to a doctor.

It has been found through empiricism that the information provided by the Bible is not effective for any sickness, since, at least, around 400 BCE century. Hippocrates, ca 470-360, regarded as the father of medicine, declared that no sickness is caused by the supernatural.
See http://www.gardenofpraise.com/ibdhipp.htm

Apparently, prayer is only effective if your malady is a result of devils, however there are no devil derived maladies. Jesus, according to the NT, characterised the blind, deaf, dumb and epileptic as being possessed with devils contrary to medical practices.

It is my observation that the authors of the NT have, maybe inadvertently, described Jesus as a 'quack' or at least a magician.

The information in James 5:14-16 appears to be false and misleading with respect to sickness.

What do I do when I get sick? I don't get sick! I have't had a day off of work for illness in 15 years. Strange how this supposed God rewards my utter lack of belief, yet the most fervent believer can be struck down, regardless of the depth of their faith. Almost as if it is all ... B.S.

Good for you. Chrisitans cannot get sick and so if they do it proves that they are not Christian. Period.

Then, I must be a Christian!

Just kidding. Not only is that affirming the consequent, but I don't think the Christians would want me! :devil1:

Just put the argument on the slippery slope and if Christians at least potentially have the mind of Christ there must be something wrong if God can get headache.

My Dear Christian Friends,

I see that many of you prefer to go to a Doctor rather than use the Bible's health plan.
Do you go to a Doctor because you do not believe the Bible's health plan can heal you?
Answer yourself honestly. Isn't hypocrisy a sin?

I wonder why any of you have any reason not to use the Bible's health plan?
Jesus said........
John 14:13-14 KJV
13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Can anyone ask for a better guarantee that prayer will heal you than the guarantee from Jesus,
""ask any thing in my name, I will do it.""

But we all know the truth. You do not have confidence that prayer will heal you. You do not trust
in Jesus' words. You have no faith in the Bible.

If you do not believe that Jesus can heal you, how can you believe that Jesus will raise you up to eternal life?

Give it up! Don't be a hypocrite.
