Question The Euchasrist

The Eucharist, as far as I know, has been accepted universally by all Christian faiths. Yet in reading my bible, the directive to eat this bread and drink this wine was solely directed at Jesus' disciples in remembrance of him.

Cosequently, I refuse to take the Eucharist and get strange looks from the congregation for not doing so. Am I right not to accept church dogma not originating from Christ ?

Again, what has this to do with Biblical Criticism and History?

(To respond, aren't you supposed to immitate the disciples? Aren't they your proxies in the stories?)

Is everything else in your church's services directly originating from Christ? If so, you must have one fancy hymn-book! Really, I don't quite understand why you would nitpick this one item when EVERYTHING about a church service - from the pews to the prayer-books to the clergy - is a post-Jesus invention. Can you clarify?

So how do you imitate Christ if Jesus did not become Christ until the resurrection and then he was no longer Jesus but Christ or he could not say "this is my body."

I don't put too much "faith" into rituals. Suffice to say, if you want a personal relationship with your lord and saviour I would simply suggest an earnest reflection into what your understanding of your god is; thereby making an intimate connection between your beliefs and your heart.
