According to Alan Cutler The Seashell on the Mountaintop Arrow 2003 James Usher stated the world was created on Sunday October 23 4004. He also argued creation would last six thousand years - or six ages. (A day is as a thousand years).

Do any YEC's use Usher's complete work and discuss why the world did not end eight years ago (or is it seven because of 0 BC?)

Um... it did. Didn't you notice? You at least got the memo, right?

No bugger told me!

I don't wanna hijack this thread but I'd just like to observe that the number of Christians of my acquaintance who believe that the world is going to end and Christ return in their lifetimes makes me laugh quite a lot.

Most Christians have died waiting. Wouldn't it be cool if just one of them could communicate with us somehow to tell us which of the many sects is right?

But you would not believe him anyway and you would certainly not recognize the ark he built.

That reminds me of a joke. A Jewish guy dies and reaches the gates of heaven, where St Peter welcomes him and arranges to have him shown round. He is surprised to notice that heaven consists of a lot of different landscapes. First, they pass through a heaven where a bunch of people are sitting around, playing bingo. 'What's that?' asks the man. 'Oh, that's the Catholic heaven,' says his guide. Next is a landscape where people are marching up and down with brass instruments, making a lot of noise. 'Who are they?' he asks. 'Oh, this is the Salvation Army heaven' the guide replies. They pass through many different kinds of heaven, Muslim heaven, Baptist heaven, Budhist heaven, and eventually reach a walled compound, with sound-proof walls topped with barbed wire. 'Who on earth lives in there?' says the man, wondering how any heaven could be so grim. 'Oh,' replied his guide 'that's the fundamentalists' heaven. It would spoil it for them if they knew that anyone else was here...'

Try me. I'm willing to accept anything verifiiable by scientific means. Such communication should be unexplainable by any other reasonable means than communication with the dead. The message should be clear and not open to multiple conflicting interpretations.

If you believe this has already happened, identify the well documented individual and his message.

If you believe this is happening now, or going to happen, please provide us the details so tha we can all experience it directly.

If you think you can influence this yourself, please have one of my dead relatives communicate directly to me. That would be very convincing.

What ark?

Default Did you want fries with that?

Here's your order sir.

Well it will be verifyable if you can find one but since you won't recognize him you will not be able to find one that you can perform your test on. The test will be just a simple brain scan wherein the right and left brain have become one and used to the same extent--or something like that because I am not a scientist.

Indeed, if the ego has died and has been raised he will be able to tell the rest of the story without any conflict other than your own ignorance on the topic. I can now direct you to the pivotal speach made by Mark Antony in "Julius Ceasar" who is telling this story just after Ceasar was slain (III,ii,73-107)-- and now you only have to be a critic to understand it.

Or, I can just remind of what was said about Newton: "all was dark and hid by night, God said let Newton be and all was light," or, how the brain of giants such as Einstein have been studied to death with no sufficient explanation given by the scientist. If all this fails just look up at the ceiling of the Sistine chapel wherein the backdrop of Michelangelo's "The Fall of Man" (Creation of Adam (?) is the human skull. You can google this and read all about it except that Dr. Meshberger has his conclusion just backwards when he claims that "the intellect is God" in that painting. The intellect is not God until it has been placed in service of Lord God so he might know what he is talking about and thus: reason prevails.

It happens all the time in both Catholicsm and Judaism and therefore you do not recognize it. So now you also know the right "sect."

Why would he have a message? So you can wrap a 2 by 4 around is neck?

It's the best kept secret in the world but according to Golding it is not difficult: "Then he knew that the great revolution of his clock was accomplished and dying seemed easy as eating, or drinking, or easing [?], one thing to be taken after another" (page 221 "The Spire," Faber and Faber).

So Golding is telling us here that he died and rose again after the "witchcraft" (religion) had left him.

Or just read about it in Joyces "Portrait" on the vary last page in the very last line: "Old father, old artificer, stand me now and ever in good stead." These words echo the words of Jesus on the cross "father into thy hands I commit my spirit." Please notice, then, that Joyce went into his netherworld on April 27 after a 40 day Lente to emerge as a new man on May 1.

Of course you can deny all of this but you can also put that 2 by 4 down and just be considerate like the rest of us.

Edited to add that religion was the carefully constructed ark that had a major influence on our life, and, simultaneously served as the tomb that was hewn as if out of rock to bury our dead ego in.

This is an interesting topic indeed, but I don't see any Biblical references. Let's try GRD.
