Default Jesus and Mary Magdalen

Hi all,

I'm new here and so I apologize if you have already discussed this topic. I have always heard that Jesus had an affair with Mary Magdalen. I was wondering of anybody can provide me with a reliable source that proves/supports this claim.

Thanks

Since there is no reliable source that shows that Jesus existed, you are not going to find any hard data on his sex life or lack thereof.

See this recent thread on Was Jesus Married?

This makes for good sensationalism, but bad history. There is nothing by way of historical evidence to demonstrate this claim.

My guess is that this whole thing started by some late gnostic gospels which state that Jesus liked to kiss Mariam on the lips often.

If anything Magdale was married to Jesus Bar-Joseph and was pointing at Jesus Bar-Abbas when he showed her the depth of the living water well. In this sense was she married to half of Jesus without her knowing the other half of Jesus.

Apparently Mary Magdalene was Jesus mother Mary. Check out http://www.answering-islam.org/Shamoun/talmud_jesus.htm for several nonbiblical stories about Jesus (Yeshu), Mary (Miriam), Magdalene, and ben stada.

Welcome to the forums . . . never mind the Great Unwashed . . . who let them in?!

As Toto indicates, we do not even have reliable evidence a historical Junior existed. If we accept one did, we then have nothing about what he said or did.

What happens is someone plays a speculation game: "if he existed it is reasonable that a man his age would take a wife given the mores of the time blah blah blah."

This brings up an interesting question. If Jesus was God incarnate who came down here to "live and die as one of us." Then did he ever experience sex? Did he whack off? If not then he missed out on one of the most fundamental human experiences and cannot be truly said to have lived and died as one of us.

Of course if he did, he wasn't sinless then was he?

If you go by the Gospels, they were married. There is no way ever that a Jewish woman would ever be able to lay claim to a man's body (as Ms. Magdelene supposedly did after his death and entombment) unless she was a blood relative, or his wife. Well, they could have been brother and sister, but I think Christian Theists would like that one even less (WHAT? The Divine Mother not being a Virgin! Shock horror gasp).

If you go bye other hard evidence, well, as many say, there's not really much.
