I don't have any online links at the moment but I have been reading a book called The Book Your Church Doesn't Want You to Read
by Tim C. Leedom
and so far most the book has been comparing religions that out dated the old testament and the new testament that share similarities. Some of these similarities seem like duplications. Sorry I couldn't be much help but i'm just starting to study this on my free time.

For something more scholarly, try Origin of the History of Israel: Herodotus' Histories as Blueprint for the First Books of the Bible by J.-W. Wesselius, if you can afford it.

This reviewer has gone through the many other parallels cited by Wesselius. They are always interesting and novel and challenging, and Wesselius certainly deserves great credit for bringing them to our attention, even if they are often less than convincing.

thanks for that book recommendation. I'll see if I can pick it up at the library and if I find it's a necessity to my book collection i'll buy it when I have the funds.

Hi Net2004 - first of all, the preferred usage is the "Hebrew Scriptures" and not the "OT" or "Old Testament," which some here take as a slur on Judaism.

Secondly, it is not clear if you are asking about literary borrowing, or just cultural borrowing.

That said, you might find this link of interest as a start: Ancient Egypt and Judaism

or

Literary Borrowing which discusses the criteria for judging literary influence.
