Default Anyone ever hear of Rocco A. Errico?

What's your take on him?

And on there being an original Aramaic version of the bible?

We have a friend who is a friend of his, and thinks we be interested in learning more.

I have an issue with the aramaic thing, and didn't realize that until now.

So I have some research to do.

Some of his translations are way off compared to some modern stuff (and KJV stuff). He also seems to be promoting the Paul made Jesus god' view.

He'd be a mate of an old poster here called judge. Judge was a follower of the notion that the Syriac Aramaic texts reflected the earliest texts of the gospels and were thus more important than the Greek gospels. They base their understanding of christianity on the Peshitta rather than the Greek gospels so their biblical texts will vary as the Peshitta does from the Greek.

There are numerous Greek artefacts preserved in the Peshitta to make it very hard to think that the latter was the more original form of the text. There are also a lot of rough issues in the Greek that are smoothed out, presumably by editorial intervention, in the Peshitta. The Peshitta priority people try to find forms in the Peshitta which explain oddnesses in the language of the Greek that can only be explained working from poor Greek translations of the Peshitta. Looking at the ones presented here in the past, I found them to be usually unfounded conjectures.

I wouldn't touch the stuff, but then I don't believe, so my opinion in the matter is of no direct value to a believer.

Thanks. Not a believer either, but it's always cool to learn about it.
