wikipedia needs to be re-edited
check out these gems found of the wikipedia Criticism of the Bible
Most of the remainder of the tanakh/Old Testament is seen as historically reliable, since it merely presents an uncontroversial account of the sayings of various people, their poetry, and an undramatic, and largely unsupernatural There are many other instances of statements which are corroborated as wise by some groups in modern science, such as the laws of Kosher food and circumcision, but not by others, and remain controversial. ___________________________________ my problem with the first quote is what I put forth in a different thread.... how many of the mass murders commited by god in the OT be confirmed ??? http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=162683 my problem with the second quote is that it doesn't even acknowledge any opposition to circumcision, but rather seems to give the practice a freeride by modern science which is hardly the case |

Then why don't you re-edit the page yourself?

The editing model fails when people fail to attempt to correct the errors they spot (that is, it fails when people fail to correct, not when they add the error, because it is expected that some error will be added).

I was under the impression that the practice of circumcision had a valid medical purpose at that place and time, however it is now unnecessary because we now have better living conditions and more effective medical procedures.
