Bill Joey, you were not too busy to start this thread. Yet you are too busy to address critical questions about your claims. Now why might that be?

Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius described in his Meditations one of the things that he learned:
Quote:
From Alexander the Platonic, not frequently nor without necessity to say to any one, or to write in a letter, that I have no leisure; nor continually to excuse the neglect of duties required by our relation to those with whom we live, by alleging urgent occupations.
In other words, not to make the excuse that one is too busy.

Hmmm. Technically, this is an ad hom, since most of us here do not 'use' the KJV.

I bet some folks here use it to point out contradictions in the Bible. Thus they are clean!

Bill, I was brought up with Dake's Annotated Reference Bible of the KJv - it is still used by many pentecostal ministers. What do you think of it?

He believes that if there is a discrepancy between the KJV and the old Greek manuscripts, the KJV "corrects" the original Greek!! Type his name into google and see for yourself.
As absurd as that belief is, it's really not any worse than believing the bible in the first place.

I agree, to a point. Someone who takes the bible literally has confined their ability to relate to the world, it is as if they have put on clothes that are too small and constrict their movement. KJV-only advocates have basically put a straight-jacket on themselves and are yelling for someone to make sure it is on as tight as possible.

In the interest of being fair, I do want to point out that Ruckman's ideas are so extreme that he is a pariah within the larger KJV-only movement. Most of the KJV advocates that I have come across reject the notion that it corrects the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. They just believe that the KJV is the only correct English translation. (Still an absurd position when you understand the actual history of the transmission of these texts.)
