Since you are so certain you are going to heaven, you must have some notion what you'll be doing during that extended residence there.

Sorry, I was being completely facetious. I obey Jesus as much as Zeus or Apollo or any other fictional character. I actually obey common sense most of all, since that is what is most useful in keeping me from being culled from the herd. I'm sure I'm not far from the K of H since it isn't hard to not be far from nothing.

Didn't Jesus or someone say the K of H is in everybody anyhow, so then I guess I'd be even closer. I'm close to something which is nothing which is also in me.

Maybe, although it is hard to follow; I think I'm being referred to as ddd. Appears mata leao doesn't appreciate my ability to "obey" Jesus, Zeus, Apollo and common sense?

Umm, what was the OP? Oh yeah. About whether hell is scriptural. Then came some discussion about eternal torment. Then Helpmabob helped by offering that those "who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus," would be "punished with everlasting destruction..."

So I figured that I could "save" myself from this imaginary punishment by showing that by not being purposefully mean to others, I am unintentionally "obeying" Jesus gospel, at least as I understand it, thereby fulfilling enough of the requirement to keep myself out of imaginary hell.

I thought Helpmabob was a little off base with "Jesus himself said to a man like you that “you are not far from the kingdom of heaven.�?"

So I tried to clarify why I'm probably not too close, in that I don't believe in Jesus or the K of H (kingdom of heaven) any more than Apollo or Zeus. I think Jesus requires a little more than not being purposefully mean to others, although maybe that's all you need, to be close.

Not sure why mata doesn't expect to see me over at the "Islam/Son God Ra/palestinian God Baal/Thor/ websites" telling them I'm not going to their hell.

I'll probably get around to it one day.

Hi John A Broussard - I do, I think I will be with God. I will be free from the sin that bugs me every day here.That's a non-sequitor, John, I thought you would know. Anyhow, I would not say that I am certain to go to heaven, but I have that firm hope.
