Default Jesus Process announces members

New Oxonian blog

Quote:
TJP is not a professional society, but a consultation of men and women who feel an academic responsibility to the field of biblical studies generally and the study of early Christianity in its historical and social context particularly. It advocates rigour, honesty, and methodological transparency in an age increasingly threatened by mere information, opinion-mongering and web- and media-based sensationalism.

At the same time, its members hope to exploit advances in technology to create a public forum in Christian origins governed by consensus rather than private opinion and ideology. For that reason, while membership in TJP is limited to those with credentials in the study of religion and closely related fields, including Semitic languages, archaeology, classical philology, and textual studies, its forum will be open to everyone who wishes to participate in a lively and civilized discussion.

whom do i love the most? trobisch

which man do i despise the most? really hard to say. hoffman is just a silly, bored old man. dont hate him. i think chilton has to find a new gig now that kissing the ass of a demented jewish rabbi is going nowhere (Alzheimer's). crossley is a mashugana. i dont hate jim west either. i think he uses blogging to break up the monotony of retirement.

that <edit> still tops the list (soon dr. <edit> to me and you). ancient truths in the modern world

Something tells me that they will be just as successful as all the other Jesus-Solving Groups that have existed before (i.e. - not very). Considering the quality of work put off by Hoffman and his henchpeople at his essay site (i.e., his blog), I am skeptical that they'll be worth reading, unless it's an exercise in spotting errors and logical fallacies (or just to read the insults).

Shouldn't Hoffmann's description here be "men and woman." Or to hide the very obvious lack gender balance, perhaps just "people" or "scholars."

They would do better coming to this site. I do not think they would learn, but distract from free thought. They could learn so much here.

She's a graduate student. Her PhD is due in a few years.

The link in the OP gives extensive bio's for all the participants.

Quote:
She has been research fellow to Maurice Casey working on his book Jesus of Nazareth and his current book refuting mythicists. She is now writing up her doctoral thesis on the Double Tradition, and publication may be expected in two or three years’ time.
