Cool The guru and his fancy footwork: he thinks he is Muhammed Ali!

Please get ready to laugh. This a debate enchanced with comedy. Thank God for the guru's falters!! You can also laugh with my mispelled words. (You guys told me not to take it seriously!)
He was advising others to throw away the authorities, their dictionaries. As if he was an authority. He talked down to me and told me "only beginners use Thayer's." The guru did not know who he was talking to. (If you go to battle with this guru, you guys are going to lose.)
He tried to tell me "god" is an adjective. This is the most ignorant statement I have heard yet. Who was he trying to teach? I speak, read and write Greek fluently, more fluently than English (this is not bragging.) He has more nerve than knowledge. Even now, he won't quit.

He must not have understandood what those professors wrote! I can't believe professors would write such a thing. This is like someone trying to tell you that he has a dictionary and this dictionary says the word "man" is feminine. Would you turst that dictionary or would you trust yourself? It is that basic.

The guru is not ashamed to BS. Now he sounds like a fundie pastor.
Pilate is respectful of scholars. He never made fun of what they said, even when they were wrong. But he is leary of gurus with eloquent mantras (that is: fast talkers) and loose canons, who try to fool the audience.

The guru is doing some more fancy footwork intending to confuse the audience. Advice: The guru needs to 'drop it." He is dead wrong. He needs to respectfully "bow out" and save his integrity. If he continues, he will clearly show that he is here to BS and keep talking, and do intellectual manuevers. This will reflect bad on his groopies and the gauchos. He is embarassing them and letting them down!!! The guru needs to get off the stage.

The guru has another trick under his sleeve.(He keeps talking-I keep interpreting). The guru now wants to blame the "unstable Marcan text." There is nothing wrong with the Marcan text (on this word, Mark is more "stable" that the other gospels). The word in the masculine genter in the other gospels, too. The gender is determined by other nouns that surround this word. In Greek you have to match the gender of nouns, pronouns, and adjectives (epithets). In English when you say 'the blue sky" the word blue does not determine gender. But in Greek you have to match the "blue" to the gender of the sky. The sky is masculine (most maculine words have the suffix -os) So you say o kyanos ouranos.
By the way for those poorly informed people (Father, forgive them for they don't know who to listen to) who condemned me of not knowing etymology, let me right here give them a lesson. The root kyan (from Kyanos) appears in the word cyanide and cyanide is blue. (I did not have to look in a dictionary to tell you this.) I had an advantage in Physics and biology classes remebering the terms: most of them are Greek, some Latin.

the guru has a lot of nereve and he will never admit he has made a mistake. He covers his mistakes. For this reason, he is not qualified to teach.
When I made a mistake (about the word Ar. I called it Aramaic, while it meant Arabic) and he pointed it out, I thanked him. I admitted my fault and leraned from it. This man, does not want to admit his error.
(Don't get the idea that I am bashing the guru to take his position. God forbid!)
The question remains, how many of his errors did he sweep under the carpet?
Are the gauchos and the groopies going to excuse him like the congregation of Jimmy Swaggart? You know, Fundies put loyalty above right of wrong. Another case in point: the Catholic church tried to cover the priests that molested the little children.

I tried to find something, anything worth responding to in your latest post, Pilate and there is only invective, so enjoy your noise. The sound and the fury...

Several post in this and the other Aramaic thread have been reported. I would ask everyone to give the moderators some time to decide what to do and not escalate things in the meantime.

Johann my friend,
do you like it when the guru redicules what the fundies write? It's fun! Isn't it? We don't like the fundies, do we? Making fun of what the fundies write is freedom of speech, isn't it? But Johann, don't you think everyone deserves freedom of speech? So now that the shoe is on the other foot, you don't like it? .... Why Johann? ....... Don't you know the rules? The rules say its OK to redicule what other people write. :Cheeky: Why don't you like these rules? Johann, don't take it personally. Don't let your feelings get hurt. Don't be a complainer. Oooohh Johann, sit back and relaaaaxxxx!!! You are free to bash what I wrote. It doesn't bother me. You can call me Andy, too, if you like. Guru does. Guru made fun of what I wrote. Why don't you try it, too? Try it. You'll like it!! :wave:Go ahead, enjoy your freedom of speech!!!
(P.S. .... and once you are at it, read some of the things I wrote about the Aramaic language, and about that darned Golgotha. They are very educational. You might learn something.)

Toto,
What is wrong? Did I insult anyone? Did I break a rule? You can be direct with me and address me face to face: whatever you want to tell me, post it right here, in public, where everyone can see. Or you can do things in a deviant way, behind my back: like the fundies would do.

You can't respond because you have nothing to say and nowehere to stand!!!
<deleted> You are on the run! what's the matter? Can't you stand your ground and make more arguments? Stay in the ring and let me see more of your fancy footwork. Teach me more about the Greek words, and the Eloi, Eloi stuff. Try and pass that stuff to me.
(P.S. Are we having fun yet? Don't take it seriously. Relaaaaaxxx!!)

My advice to everyone: Stick to the facts. Ask questions. Answer questions. Critique a stated position or claim. Offer a position or state a claim. Leave the comedy to the professionals and strive to impress everyone with your maturity, restraint, and ability to participate in a rational discussion.

That would just be swell.

Pilate - you need to stick to the topic and stop taunting spin. You need to actually figure out the rules here, and realize that people will respect good arguments and specific references to texts, and that appeals to authority are viewed with suspicion.

You also need to notice that spin stopped calling you Andy after you asked him not to call you Andy. You see, communication is possible. Now we would all like to ask you to stop the irrelevant comments about gurus and gauchos and fundies.

Thank you.

Cool Pilate is law abiding. If his style bothers you, rewrite your constitution.

Toto,
(and everyone who read this)
you are mistaken!!! After I stopped calling him Guru, he posted the name "Andy" again and made more diminutive comments about Andy.
Look, I did not complain that he started calling me Andy again, or that he made diminutive statements. All I am saying is, I must be allowed to do what he does and what he has been doing all along.
If you want to be a fair man, you should not take the side of spin. If you do, everyone here will know you did, and some day, one of those whom are now taking your side ('brutus"), will repay you in kind ("what goes around comes around"). In the long run, it pays to be a fair man.
Toto,
there are more epithets that spin used on me, which we have not discussed. For example, he wrote that I am "obeisant to the fundies." Now, I took this as an insult. (As you guys will find out, I am not obeisant to anyone.)
So, if he called me "obeisant" and you don't find anything wrong with it, then, I am entilted to use the word "obeisant." I also am entitled to use his manner of responding to postings. Furthermore, you guys make fun of each other all the time. Look at those insulting, taunting, characters one can insert in the text!!
Toto,
if you don't like my philosophy, you should not try to use "legal methods" to supress it. This is the kind of stuff the fundies have done to you.
If you don't like my style of writing, you have to rewrite your constitution.
I am writing with your rules and your rules are superseeded by what you already have allowed spin to do.
You must realize this: before I even came here, you guys (and girls) have established a pattern of acceptable behavior. I am entitled to that pattern.
(By the way, this is the way our legal system works: the laws are interpreted through prior legal decisions-"case law".).
My "irellevant" comments about gurus and gauchos and groopies are not meant as insults. They are meant as entertaining figures of speech, which make this debate more enjoyable to follow. I have no intent to insult anyone.

Thumbs up I second you idea, but "make it a law," so everyone will follow.

Yes, Amaleq, that would be swell. This is what I have been trying to tell you guys. And if you want to turn your advice into "legislation" I will stand behind you, and give you credit for it. It will be your idea. Go for it.
Remember: you guys have established patterns of behavior, before I came here. I hate to bring Jesus in this discussion. I know how you guys loath him. But listen to what he said: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you" (Matthew 7:12 NIV) Start with this in your mind, and draw up a piece of legislation.
(P.S. Drop those insulting, taunting, characters one can insert in the text!)
