I Enoch & other apocrypha
Can anyone tell me where I might find a list of books that were not included in the bible?
I've recently stumbled upon a website with numerous quotes from I Enoch and Jubilees, two books I have never heard of before. I would have doubted the truth of I Enoch if my Oxford Annotated hadn't mentioned it as well. As for Jubilees, I still don't know. Add to that the fact that the website with the quotes was all about UFOs and I really start to wonder. Anyway, my Oxford Annotated has a nice section with several apocrypha, but I know there must be more out there that it doesn't mention. Is that becasue many biblical scholars doubt the "genuineness" of these documents, i.e, they weren't really written by the Jews or early Xtians? Does anyone have any good suggestions on some intereting books about the apocrypha and why these books aren't included in the canons? Thanks |

Check out the sticky thread "BC&H Recommended Reading & Reference", in this forum - the sections "The Whole Bible & The Old Testament" and "The New Testament and the Church" have books about the apocrypha and the pseudepigraphia.
