The most disgusting biblical verse you can find
I think the content of the Bible itself is one of the most important criticisms against it, so in this spirit how about each of us posts the most repugnant Biblical quote s/he can think of:
Here is mine: Leviticus 25: >38 I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give > > you the land of Canaan and to be your God. > 39 "When, then, your countryman becomes so impoverished beside you that he > sells you his services, do not make him work as a slave. > 40 Rather, let him be like a hired servant or like your tenant, working with > > you until the jubilee year, > 41 when he, together with his children, shall be released from your service > > and return to his kindred and to the property of his ancestors. > 42 Since those whom I brought out of the land of Egypt are servants of mine, > > they shall not be sold as slaves to any man. > 43 Do not lord it over them harshly, but stand in fear of your God. > 44 "Slaves, male and female, you may indeed possess, provided you buy them > from among the neighboring nations. > 45 You may also buy them from among the aliens who reside with you and from > > their children who are born and reared in your land. Such slaves you may own > > as chattels, > 46 and leave to your sons as their hereditary property, making them perpetual > > slaves. But you shall not lord it harshly over any of the Israelites, your > kinsmen. |

Hosea 13:16
Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. Psalm 137:9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. |

Ezekiel 4.12: "And you shall eat it as a barley cake, baking it in their sight on human dung."
Of course, the Lord relents and let 'Zeke bake his bread on cow dung (4.15) |

"I offered my back to those who beat me,
my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting." -Isaiah 50:6 Or: "And if we are careful to obey all this law before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness." -Deutoronomy 6:25 Total obedience to another, denial of self, blech. |

1 Samuel 15:3
Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey. |

Numbers 31:7-18
15 "Have you allowed all the women to live?" he asked them. 16 "They were the ones who followed Balaam's advice and were the means of turning the Israelites away from the LORD in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the LORD's people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. |

God's collective punishment
Ezekiel 21:3-4: "Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I am against you; and I will draw My sword out of its sheath and cut off from you the righteous and the wicked. Because I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore My sword will go forth from its sheath against all flesh from south to north.'"
Isaiah 14:21: "Prepare for his sons a place of slaughter because of the iniquity of their fathers. They must not arise and take possession of the earth and fill the face of the world with cities." Mike Rosoft |

And I will set My jealousy against you, that they may deal with you in wrath. They will remove your nose and your ears; and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will take your sons and your daughters; and your survivors will be consumed by the fire."

Deuteronomy: 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:…
28:56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, 28:57 And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them. 2 Chronicles: 15:12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; 15:13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. Jeremiah 48:10: Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood. Mods: I'd like to request a sticky.
