Default N T Wright critique

Hello,

I am looking for critiques of N.T. Wright's reconstruction of the historical Jesus. Can you name any journal articles or books?

Is there a particular work of Wright's that you're looking for a critique to? He gets some mention here in the library but Robert Price has a review of one of his works if that helps at all:

N.T. Wright’s The Resurrection of the Son of God - A Review

ETA: There are many links to articles for and against the Bishop here at The Paul Page

Hello Javaman.

Basically, critiques of the arguments within:

N. T. Wright, Jesus and the Victory of God, (Christian Origins and the Question of God, Volume 2), 1997, Augsburg Fortress Publishers

N. T. Wright, The Challenge of Jesus: Rediscovering Who Jesus Was and Is, 1999, InterVarsity Press

N. T. Wright, The New Testament and the People of God (Christian Origins and the Question of God), 1996, Augsburg Fortress Publishers

Thanks for passing the link to Price's review. But I need more...preferably articles in journals, or books...

dost,

You will not find a whole lot. As very few anti-N.T. Wright's have the essential knowledge and linguistic skills to critique this guy, there has not been much by way of criticism. Even those within the Christian tradition "take issue" on very few points, and hardly any of them have to do with the trilogy you mention above. You're best bet is simply going to a theological library (that is up to date) and perusing their journal database.

Carey C. Newman has edited a book called Jesus and the Restoration of Israel, to which various authors contributed articles (chapters) critiquing Jesus and the Victory of God. Wright himself responds to the critiques in a chapter toward the end of the book.
