Default Ten Worst Bible Passages

I'm not sure if this is technically the right place for this sort of thread, since it isn't so much about biblical criticism as it is criticism of the Bible. I was just thinking about a making a shirt with the top ten most offensive Bible passages, and I thought I'd make an informal survey and see what people thought.

"Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Put your sword on your side, each of you! Go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you kill your brother, your friend, and your neighbor.'" (Exo 32:27-29 NRSV)

Angry

Let's see how many examples I will gather (using NASB).

Genocide - 1 Samuel 2-3:
"Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'"

A call for murder of children (in revenge what Babylonians did to Israelites) - Psalm 137:8-9:
"O daughter of Babylon, you devastated one,
How blessed will be the one who repays you
With the recompense with which you have repaid us.
How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones
Against the rock."

Killing of the first-born = act of mercy/love - Psalm 136:10
"To Him who smote the Egyptians in their firstborn,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting"

Divine collective punishment - Isaiah 14:21
"Prepare for his sons a place of slaughter
Because of the iniquity of their fathers.
They must not arise and take possession of the earth
And fill the face of the world with cities"

Divine collective punishment, pt. 2 - Ezekiel 21:3-4
"Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I am against you; and I will draw My sword out of its sheath and cut off from you the righteous and the wicked. Because I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore My sword will go forth from its sheath against all flesh from south to north.'"

... and there are many more.

Ignoring the horrible stuff done by men on their own, will choose a few clear God-sent ones.

Forbidding sentience
"but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." Genesis 2:17

Command to kill all unbelievers and infidels, even if they're your own family
Deuteronomy 12,13
Exodus 22:20

Genocide to prove his power to a royality
Exodus 12:29-30
2 Samuel 24:15-17, 1 Chronicles 21:15-17

Downright sadism
"Take your son, your only son – yes, Isaac, whom you love so much – and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you." Genesis 22:1-18
The Book of Job
The whole freaking Book of Revelations

Luke 14 - Hate your family
Luke 14 - Forsake all you own. Its the law!
Luke 19 - parable - "Bring all those who would not that I rule over them before me and slay them.
Mark 4, Luke 8, Matthew 13, Jesus speaks in parables so some will not be converted, and their sins forgiven and be saved.
Romans 11, why do the Jews not believe in Jesus and thus be saved? God hardened their hearts not to believe in Jesus, and they are thus, damned.
Joshua - 10:40- Kill all as the Lord commands, "Leave none that breatheth".
Joshua 11, God hardens the Canaanites' hearts so they would not make peace with the Israelites and must all be slain, up close and personal.
Slaying the Midianites and keeping the girls who have not known man.
Mass murder of the Amelekites under David, who passed many through kilns and hacked many to death with saws under orders from God.
Job, handed over to Satan.
Romans 8 and 9, predestination.

A few faves of mine.

"Leave none that breatheth".
- God

Yup, kill all the men in battle, invade their city, pull the wailing women and children out of their homes and slay them with rude bronze swords. Kill old men and women too. And crying babies and infants. Terrified children, kill them too. The Lord loves children. Slash! hack! So commandeth the Lord.

Now sing "Holy! Holy! Holy!"

What a nice God. can't you just feeeeeeeeeeeeel the love?
