spin's blog: Last supper in Paul
spin's Blog: Last supper in Paul
Member spin wrote an interesting blog post, and I copied it here so everyone can view it and talk about it. It is about one of the few passages in the authentic Pauline letters that contains a direct quote from Jesus, and it also contains what I take to be the most illustrious descriptions of the physicality of Jesus in Paul. It seems to be a tough passage for those who believe that Paul's model of Jesus was merely spiritual and not human, but spin has an argument for it. I'll give my counterpoint on it tomorrow morning. <text removed> |

Maybe the reality is that the believers are the body of Christ. So the solution is quite simple. God in heaven, a godman mediator doing various ritual acts like dying and resurrecting, and the human believers being the historical Christ on earth - ye are the sons and daughters of God. It is only with the enlightenment that things got confused and Jesus was historicised instead of as the Church has always said - the church is the real historical Jesus. |

The doctrine of transubstantiation is precisely about this.

Will the moderators please remove the whole of my blog entry from this thread (where it currently appears twice)? ApostateAbe did not have my consent to copy my blog willy-nilly here. If I wanted to start a thread on the issue I would have. There has already been a thread and if people were really so keen, they could either link to my blog or refer back to the previous discussion.
And, ApostateAbe, do not make assumptions. They are so often wrong. Over and out. spin |

I do not wish to derail your post, by going off topic, though, I admit, I am not sure exactly what the topic is, nevertheless, I am focused here, in this reply, on your text, not spin's. You wrote: Quote:
Abe, how do you know: a. that this is an authentic letter from "Paul"? b. that this passage contains a direct quote from Jesus? Finally, I am confused (not so unusual) about your choice of words: "reconstructed text". What does that mean? avi |
