Talking Why I Left Organized Religion

::ahhh:: It feels great - 'what' you ask? It feels great to finally be FREED from the shackles of organized religion. I know it sounds corny but this is the happiest and most free I've ever been in my life. I started in Christianity, went to Judaism, ended up trying to be a Deist and...now I'm here.

Now that I've had my corneas peeled back and had the grimy, archaic rust and mental retardation of fundamentalism and conservative fanaticism peeled off of my skin, I see why freethinkers can't stand fundies.

But hey, the Scriptures were right about fundamentalists: the "blind" definately lead the "blind"! PEACE! :devil3: :jump:

Welcome!

There are quite a few of us apostates here on IIDB! Congrats on freeing yourself so early on.

Lightbulb What a Club

What a club, who are the former members, what religion is God or what religion was his son? Any where in the Book did either of Them state one should be in a religion, in fact they both hated religion. If one takes religion into the Bible it doesn't make sense, one must throw away to much of it. Read it without religion thoughts or opinions then one can start understanding what's actually in there. Once one can use everything in there to put together a complete picture, then and only then your reading it in the correct thought pattern, if you feel the need to throw away this statement or that one, then change your thoughts, not the words. But keep trying. Dan

And eventually, you'll manage to throw out the entire book. And good riddance.

The Bible is nothing but a hate-filled piece of propaganda.

Even if the god of christianity existed, I wouldn't ever want to worship such a murderous, jealous asshole.

Question Wake up and Read

Religion is only mankinds futile attempts to hi-jack God's promices and position themselves in places they feel they need to be to gain leverage over others (like cutting into line or cheating). As one reads this Book with an open mind (forget what they told you, they didn't read it either) there is much to learn, Satan offered the whole earth to God's son if he would bow down to him, so who had control of the world, God or Satan. Has anything changed since that offer was made ? So who still has control of it ? Who has control of the nations that has controled it since then ? (wake up). His son walked and talked on earth about what, His own power or was He showing the world God's power? Did He state go start a religion named after Him, or did He say go teach the world what He had shown them? Wow, how mankind can screw things up. The prophecies are true and so are the numbers given, that survive, they don't include religious numbers, sorry you've been mislead again. Wake up before it's to late it appears this is the last time around. Dan
