Why ChristianITY?
I am curious why the religion of the worship of Christ is called Christianity with the use of the suffix "ity".It seems to be out of step with other belief systems eg Islam, Hinduism, animism, even communism, capitalism, fascism and so on.Can anyone explain this please?

-ism (where Xism is used to mean "theory or movement following X") is an affix used to create more words most frequently in recent times; and the -ism words you list are modern words. The pattern of adding "ism" to any word to describe a movement or philosophy is a modern pattern.
Christianity is an old word and it follows the longer-established pattern of "[adjective]+ity" with the basic meaning "the state or quality of being [adjective]". Thus -ity is basically the latin equivalent of Anglo-Saxon -ness. Compare sanity, solidity etc. Islam is the exception on your list - it is a direct borrowing from arabic and it is formed by the Arabic method of a three-letter root (SLM) from which different words with related meanings are constructed by adding bits: so SaLaaM (peace), iSLaM (submission), muSLiM (one who submits), etc. |

There was a temple in Nazareth that itself does not exist but the temple was the incarnate accumulation of religious indoctrinated out of which Mary was engendered and to which Jesus returned in effort to destroy this temple and rebuilt it as a mansion in heaven on earth. These are just philosophical deductions based on historic evidence and simple bible readings. |
