Default Comparison of Paul Q and Gospels

The Christian view, I assume, is that Paul is relaying the teachings of Jesus through his letters.

The Gospels obviously are intended (in parts) to tell us of the teachings of Jesus.

Q is a sayings Gospel, made up of sayings from Jesus.

If all of this is true, surely theyre should be some pretty big similarities between the three. I appreciate, that by its very nature, Q is going to be similar.

However, my question is, has this ever really been considered. If the belief in Jesus evolved into the Gospels from Paul, surely it makes sense that his "teachings" would too?

If indeed, there are similarities, can this be put down to the fact that the teachings are just based on the contempory ideals of the time?

I hope this isnt too stupid a thread to make. It just struck me that if we can see an evolution of the belief in Jesus we should also see an evolution in what he was supposed to have taught.

I don't think you're going to find many people willing to accept that Q knew Paul, given gross differences in Christological terms, sotierology, and concern of Jesus' life v. death, among many other reasons.

Why don't you start by trying to figure out which teachings of Jesus are contained in Paul's letters. I don't think you will find many. I think it has been said that Paul preached faith IN Jesus, as opposed to the faith (or teachings) OF Jesus.

You will, however, find many similarities between the teachings attributed to Jesus in the gospels (Q is just the overlap between Matt and Luke) and contemporary Hellenistic Cynic philosophers.
