It is funny, for this post sent elsewhere was not meant as a political one at all. I meant that the climate is so religious in the US (and that is frightening, imo) that anything can happen regarding the personal convictions of an individual. There is no history (about 2 centuries?!), that is no secular tradition as in Germany or in France, especially in France. I guess that Voltaire, Rousseau, the Encyclopedists for instance, les "Lumières", are not taught in the US schools...
