It is funny, for this post sent elsewhere was not meant as a political one at all. I meant that the climate is so religious in the US (and that is frightening, imo) that anything can happen regarding the personal convictions of an individual. There is no history (about 2 centuries?!), that is no secular tradition as in Germany or in France, especially in France. I guess that Voltaire, Rousseau, the Encyclopedists for instance, les "Lumières", are not taught in the US schools...

So you know that the US (and Canada) experimented fascism before Europe... The number of Jews killed by Vichy directly or indirectly (a crime against humanity, sure) is no match with the number of Americans killed by the Usians and the Canadians. You know what happened to the Cherokees, you know what is Oklahoma synonym for, you know who was deported, you know what happened to the Americans living in California, don't you?

So why are you citing Revel when fascism landed in the USA (and Canada) well before Europe?
