Default The Good Book - post these in courts and schools

I get a lot of emails from people saying, "This is what happens when you take the Bible out of schools," or "We want the Ten Commandments in courts."

OK, I'd like to see this list hanging on walls, in schools and courts:

The Good Book

[1] Stone raped women to death!

"If there is a betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and
lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that
city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman
because she did not cry for help though she was in the city..."
(Deuteronomy 22:23,24)

[2] The Lord kills countless innocent children for the mistakes of
their political leader (the Pharaoh)!

"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat
on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the
dungeon."
(Exodus 12:29-30)

[3] Forget spanking. Stone your disobedient child to death. Now that's
discipline!

"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his
father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline
him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the
elders at the gate of his town... Then all the men of his town shall
stone him to death."
(Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

[4] Rule of War 1: Kill all living things!

"Thus saith the LORD of hosts... Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly
destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and
woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass."
(I Samuel 15:2-3)

[5] Rule of War 2: Keep the young virgins for yourselves!

"Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every
woman who has known man by lying with him. But all the young girls who
have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."
(Numbers 31:17,18)

[6] Dash the children to pieces, and "ravish" the women of the enemy!

"Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that
is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall
be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled,
and their wives ravished."
(Isaiah 13:15-16)

[7] Uh oh... God's not too happy with us. Time to slaughter everyone.

"So the LORD said, I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the
face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the
ground..."
(Genesis 6:7)

[8] God tests Job's faith by.. killing all his children. Just a test!

"While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said,
'Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest
brother's house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert
and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and
they are dead,...'"
(Job 1)

[9] Tolerance is always a priority of course.

"The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash
his feet in the blood of the wicked."
(Psalms 58:10)

I wouldn't mind seeing the Ten Commandments posted in schools, as long as it's the Exodus 34 version (the only one actually referred to as the Ten Commandments in the Torah).

It would give the kids a good laugh, and bring further discredit to this book of mythology.

From the NIV:
Quote:
10 Then the LORD said: "I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the LORD, will do for you. 11 Obey what I command you today. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 12 Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. 13 Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles. [a] 14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

15 "Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices. 16 And when you choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods, they will lead your sons to do the same.

17 "Do not make cast idols.

18 "Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in that month you came out of Egypt.

19 "The first offspring of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock. 20 Redeem the firstborn donkey with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem all your firstborn sons.
"No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

21 "Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.

22 "Celebrate the Feast of Weeks with the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year. [b] 23 Three times a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign LORD, the God of Israel. 24 I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your territory, and no one will covet your land when you go up three times each year to appear before the LORD your God.

25 "Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the Passover Feast remain until morning.

26 "Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.
"Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk."

27 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel." 28 Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.

I think the proper response to emails such as that is "you're a moron".

Who said anything about blaming a religion for anything? He's just pointing out that the Bible, like much mythology and literature, is a terrible moral guide.

Blaming Jews for something?

1 Thessalonians 2
You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews, who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.

The Bible has been declared to be totally free from any traces of hate-speech, being , as it is, a message of love and peace.

IIRC only 2 of the 10 commandments are actually laws - do not kill and do not steal (although even killing is allowed in certain circumstances)

and I'm fairly confident that both were at the very least frowned upon long before Moses came down with the 2nd set we have now
