Request for Research help: comparative religious myths
Hello,
I actually remembered this place and came back to get your help. One time I came across a website that had a very long and detailed comparison of religious stories in the bible and their parallels (sometimes almost word for word) to religious stories from other traditions which pre-date Christianity. It was fascinating, but a couple years and a couple computers later I've lost the information! If this information is posted here, please pardon me - I wasn't really sure what to search for. I tried Google searches for things like "Parallels in religious myth" "Commonalities in religious texts," etc. - but I really didn't find what I was looking for. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance! Sel |

Probably the exact opposite of what you're looking for, but getting both sides of an issue is probably helpful:

I wouldn't recommend the tektonics site, nor would I recommend the garbage he tries to refute. Archaya S? Puh-leez.

Chris, is there anything you would reccomend for Comparative Religions? I was thinking about picking up Robert Miller's book on the birth of Jesus, but is there anything you (or anyone else) would reccomend?
And no, I won't take "Juliana's" obvious reccomendation. |

I really haven't dwelt much on the subject, though a cursory look through various bibliographies usually bring up the subject of Buddha and Christ, or less frequently Krishna and Christ. I remember that Peter Kirby (where did he go?) took a class on Comparative Religions, so perhaps he might still have some books or recommendations, that is, if anyone can get a hold of him.

I'd also stay away from Freke and Gandy.
