Default Marcion and Valentinus and the HJ

My question is simple: If Paul did not believe that Jesus had been a religious teacher who walked the earth, and Valentinus and Marcion both claimed secret knowledge derived from Paul, why didn't either one of them deny a HJ? By 'HJ' I don't require that to mean a human being--just the appearance of one.

Why do you suppose that they would have?

I'm assuming they respected Paul.

If the secret was that Paul didn't believe in a HJ then that would have formed the basis for their views. Instead they would have been rejecting the very Paul they claimed to respect.

I am not sure that your question is not, itself, an anachronism.

Consider, from what we know of Marcion for instance, that there was a belief in a Jesus who was not really a human at all.

How would something like this apply to your question?

It wouldn't. That is irrelevant to my OP.

Actually, that is exactly why it is relevant to your OP.

My OP says nothing about being human. That clouds the issue unnecessarily. It is totally irrelevant.

You are the one that specifically mentioned HJ in your OP.

Did you mean something else besides what we usually consider HJ, because if not, then by denying that Jesus was a human kinda denies an HJ?

sorry for any confusion. I've edited the OP to be clearer.

You are attempting to Manipulate the Strict meaning of the term "HJ". You ought to know that the NT including the Pauline writings do NOT support a human Jesus [HJ] and that is PRECISELY why there is a QUEST for an historical Jesus.

Please, get familiar with Scholarship or you may be come across as one who promotes Propaganda.

You have been posting on this forum for years so you ought to know that you are presenting mis-leading information.

Please, let me remind you the claim in Apologetic sources that Jesus existed in Judea as the Son of a Holy Ghost and God the Creator is NOT, is Not, is NOT an "HJ".

How many times must we go through your errors???

1. Jesus of the NT is NOT an historical Jesus.

2. NT Jesus is a Jesus of FAITH--a Divine Jesus--a Myth.

3. There is an ON-GOING Quest for an historical Jesus.

Please, get familiar with Scholarship or you may come across as one who is ill-informed but don't care.
