Jews and christians (and why not muslims too!)
The jews were given a certain doctrine, which if they would follow, they would be granted a way to heaven. So then came Christ, who was preaching of things that contradicted their older beliefs. It's quite obvious that the jews would deny and try to silence Jesus, as they would do to any other heretic. So the questions goes: how can the jews be thrown into hell, if what they're doing is simply following God's word? There is no way for them to know which faith is the right one; the old one or the new one, which are both supposedly from the same God, and the logical pick would be the one they held before the other.
(I'm not well educated on Biblical canon, so if what I'm saying is nonsense and has nothing to do with either religion, please do tell me.) And here's (I think) a small question I didn't want to make an entire thread for: was the original paradise where Adam and Eve supposed to be absolutely perfect, like heaven is supposed to be after we die? |

The Jewish people have the law which is right for them, their doctrinal standard. By the time Jesus came along there were many different ideas about God as thought provoking by the Jews, and how the Jewish tradition should continue. Jesus debated against the doctrine of Pharisees because they "taught for doctrine the commandments of men". Evidently Jesus saw the Pharisees as strayed from the law of Moses which was the law of God as he himself believed. For example, Jesus told the Pharisees they and their forefathers had forced Moses to give them the bill of divorcement whereas it was not approved at the beginning. A man was only free to take another wife upon her death. Whereas marrying another while the wife was still alive produced adultery, and therein sin was concluded. |

[Yusufali 5:68] Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith. [Yusufali 5:69] Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. Forgive me for not contributing much but J-D has already addressed your points pretty well. But I will say that it's clear to me now that Christianity and Islam are just like Mormonism but with a few hundred decades headstart. "New" twists to an old way of believing.
