Any advance on zero?
I wager that Ehrman's forthcoming November book on mythicism will directly address precisely zero of Earl Doherty's 20 Top Silences.
Does anybody think it will address more than zero? |

Yes. Ehrman will concede that Paul rarely discusses the HJ. He will then point to the couple of "quotes" of Jesus in Paul, and reach for either "everyone knew the story" backed by "Paul is only interested in the Risen Jesus." I think we'll all be buying a slimmed down version of the Greatest Hits of Moribund Historicist Thinking.

I don't know. I tried to get Ehrman to to defend his thesis that Paul knew 'Jesus family' on the Jesus Mysteries board after his Sunday school sermon on the Infidel Guy radio talk show. He balked.
In my emails I made some comments to him to the effect that in his academic conceit he apparently does not even bother to check what he mythicist interpretation of the 'brothers of the Lord' is, and gave him some sources, among them Robert Price. He was in contact with Price (I am not saying because of what I wrote to him), so hopefully he will be prepared to deal with the issues as they are, not in presuming ignorance of the text on the part of the mythicists. So, it should be interesting. I think he is aware he is being watched and that he may be pounced on if he writes the way he talks to his freshmen in the Introduction to NT studies class. On the other hand, he may just decide to cash in on brow-beating the mythicist gurus because - let's be frank folks - there just isn't much intellectual ability on the other side right now to make him worry about his reputation.
