Default What's the buzz, tell me what's a happenin?

I've heard a couple of mentions of Jesus as Roman propaganda, a 'peaceful messiah' to make the Jews easier to rule. Anything to it?

It's one of many theories (or several.) The gospel story has some loose ends, some parts that don't make sense, and the human brain is wired to try to find patterns and make sense of things.

I'm not sure there is enough to this sort of theory to spend the time looking into it, but if you are curious, search this forum for "atwill" or "carotta."

Seeing as how the Romans destroyed Jerusalem during the Jewish rebellion of 66-70 CE I would give that a no.

Probably about as much as there is to any other conspiracy theory.

The Political Economy of Galilean Fishing in the First Century

Was there a conspiracy to stop time and history in the first century?
It seems to have been reasonably successful for some of us.
