Should Liberals endorse "The Passion" by seeing it?
The mods may wish to move this - so feel free.
I have just done a Google search on Hutton Gibson, the father of Mel. Given the old man's loathsome ranting and rabid anti-Semitism and his influence upon his son's beliefs. Should we, as Liberals and Humanists, support Mel's latest offering by giving our cash to see this film (either in cinemas or when it is released on DVD/video)? I would have liked to see the film when it finally opens in UK (although I was prepared to wait until it came out on DVD). Now I am not so sure I want to support it in any way and that includes spending my money to rent it. TC |

The studios are the main profit/loss takers.
Since it is already doing well enough to ensure that Gibson will get a chance to direct again, nothing else makes a great deal of difference. You could make a strictly illegal download over the Net, of course. That would solve your ethical dilemma at the price of breaking copyright law. |

I do not know what the damned liberals do, but we few, we happy few, we band of moderates prefer to waste their money in other pursuits.
