It surprises me those people have a PHD? Where’s my freaking PHD for finding these peoples ideas full of holes. Then again they could have a PHD in BS.

Well the one talks about many “facts� and things that were found by archeologists to support the existence of Jesus and people from the bible. I’m just wondering if this is true that stuff was found. Pretty much everything else they say in those movies is obvious BS. I’m just wondering if they are totally pulling facts out their ass or was this stuff really found. If it was found then has it been proven to be fake (like the Jesus shroud was proven to be)?

I’m just curious about this because I never seen someone throw out so many scientific and archeology findings as they seem to do on that website.

Also you should watch the movies, they are a good laugh.

There is no archeological evidence of Jesus. There is archeological evidence of some things and people mentioned in the NT, which does nothing to prove the existence or divinity of Jesus.

I am not in a position to watch the film. Can you be more specific about what they claim for evidence?

That's all he has from what I can watch of the video (keeps timing me out). The inscription of David is correct, finding the name Pontius Pilate is true as well, and he mentions finding evidence of James, the half brother of Jesus. But there's obviously much more to it than that.

Also, I'm not sure I'd put too much stock in a site that lists William Dembski and Lee Strobel as "experts."

This is misunderstanding. The Hebrew doesn't have two separate words BYT D'WD, as you would with a family, ie the house of David, but one single word BYTD'WD, as you find in names such as Bethel and Beth-Shemesh, which usually indicate places where there was a temple ("house") to a god, such as El or Shemesh.

This was a red herring. Josephus, writing in a specific historical context, tells us about Pilate, so Pilate had to be dealt with accordingly.


You perhaps might be interested in the charges of religious forgery that have been flying about regarding the James ossuary (amongst other things from the hands of Oded Golan. At least two items, and there are more on the way, which have been deemed forgeries. You only find publishers with financial interests and xians with religious interests who defend the James ossuary's current claim about Jesus. A few scholars have already stated that they'd seen the artefact without the second half of the inscription, that second half showing various scribal problems.
