to donald morgan, if he reads these posts
hello,
i came here by a link from a website that hosts all works on biblical "errors", so to say, by donald morgan. i hope he reads these posts; at least, there's someone marking his replies as D.M. anyway, two suggestions: 1. in "biblical absurdities" why are we missing reference to mysterious wife of cain? i did a tad of research on this and it apparently is quite an unexplainable issue even for hard core christians (unless one really starts tossing timeline and guessing on what was first in chronolgical events and what followed. i might be wrong, but the whole entire chapter 4 in genesis, 26 paragraphs, is almost completely written with word "and" at the beginning of paragraph, and isn't that a simple way to present continuity in chronology of events? thus, at the time of cain's marriage, there was not a single female, besides eve, on earth, and seth was born after cain married and had many children ) 2. as of your reference to "god marking cain" - with underlaying suggestion that omniscient god should not have to mark one to see or know one - i think it's an overkill. god set mark upon cain for people not to kill him as revenge for doing so will be sevenfold: And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. looks like grandpa had plans for the man (god was "father" of adam, thus grandpa of cain) 3. i, also, have a question. so cain left and lived in the land of nod, to the east of eden. fine with me. except, here's his discussion with the old man upstairs: thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; folks who wrote the bible might be whatever, but stupid they are not. and quite picky about choice of words are they indeed. so, where exactly did cain go, if he was driven off the face of earth and was fugitive in the earth? let me guess - caves maybe? inner earth? i know, i know, no scientific proof to that, but we know little about oceans "scientifically" and we know squat about earth inside, we never went any farther than 10 miles deep and the rest is "theories" and "Hypotheses". but let set my personal convictions aside - and re-ask the question: where did he go? firm statement he makes - i'm gone from the face of earth! in i go! "east" becomes odd description of his hideout now. |

The whole things is absurd because its foisting Christian ideas onto a non-Christian text.
The writers of Genisis didn't have the concept of an omniponent, omniscent God, and, perhaps the story of Genisis wasn't even supposed to be talking about all people, but only thier own tribe, since when Cain was kicked out of the Garden, he was simply being kicked out of the Garden of the Israelites (or whomever origioanlly wrote this bit) The problem here is Christian backreading into a document that wasn't written by Christians or for Christians. |

Don doesn't hang out in BCH - the easiest way to get his attention is to post in the Feedback Forum and either repeat this post or link to it.
You will find a lot in this forum about Cain and his wife. |

thank you, tot. it's ok, does not really matter. i shoud have not posted it to start with. just violated one of my own principles: do not start religious, political, or racial discussions. talk about female canines, that's always safe. |
