Why would Jesus need to write anything down? He told his followers he would be right back, within their lifetimes.

And as such everything in it is without error.
Except that it is full of errors--as has been pointed out in numerous threads. Historical details out of order, impossible world-shaking stunts that no one else bothered to records, claims of battles and migrations where there is no evidence of said events...

Damn, Biff beat me to it. I was going to say "For the same reason Frodo Baggins didn't write Lord of the Rings."

Written record was abundant at the time Jesus supposedly lived. It is absurd to even imagine that no one would write down such amazing and astonishing things like graves being opened and hordes of corpses walking the streets.

It is incredible that people don't stop and think about how ridiculous the claims in the New Testament are! No one would believe such claims today and usually only believe in past miracles from their own religion and dismiss the ones claimed by other religions.

I don't believe that Jesus was God. One important reason is because He left the Scripture to a bunch of humans. Who knows how much of what they wrote is accurate? It certainly hasn't resulted in the "Kingdom of Heaven", with 2000 years to work. God could do much better if He wanted to. Since the NT clearly states that Jesus will return within the lifetimes of the audience, and this isn't true, I can only surmise that whoever the authors of the NT were they were only human. And so very likely to be mistaken, especially when they start writing about things that no-one can actually know about.

Where does it say that? I'm not doubting that he meant this, but where exactly did he say it?
