Why didn’t Jesus write the Bible?
Why didn’t Jesus write the Bible?
Jesus didn’t leave a single written word behind. What does it say? Nature is the cause of life, writing is the cause of a good life. Diodorus (before 60-36 BC.) Bumper Sticker DIVINE INSANITY God killed himself on the cross to save his own creation froÂ*m his own wrath ! (Author unknown) |

Since The Bible is inspired by God and since Jesus is God then we can say that The Bible was "written" by Jesus, it is only a matter of the method he used to do it.

If Jesus actually existed, I think he was probably illiterate. There is no mention that he received any type of formal schooling and being able to write was probably not that common among the lower socioeconomic classes in those days.
The early accounts of Jesus were passed on by oral tradition which was not at all unusual in that time period. That may be why if such a person as Jesus lived, there are no written accounts of his life until decades later when it was decided to record his teachings in writing. The actual words of Jesus were never recorded in writing so I suspect that he never said many of the things that have been attributed to him. I believe that there probably was a historical Jesus but like so many legends passed on by oral tradition, but much of what we have come to believe about this person's life are probably not very accurate. |

I think what wala is really asking is why Jesus didn't write the New Testament himself while he was here on Earth. Perhaps he thinks that this would be more convincing than the 4 short versions of his life (which all tell basically the same story but say enough to contadict each other) and a few letters (allegedly) from the Apostles which constitute the NT. It maybe that wala finds this collection of books called the NT rather less than profound, considering it is supposed to be the result of almighty God coming to Earth to save mankind. Of course, I'm merely speculating on wala's motivation... I also notice that you say the Bible was 'inspired' (instead of written) by God. Does this mean that God 'inspired' the nice bits of Bible (eg loving thy neighbour) but not the nasty bits of the Bible (eg slavery, genocide, rape, stoning people to death, etc)? Greetings Duncan |

Personally I find the whole idea that God's word would remain in a sole book filled of contradictions, compilated on several centuries rather ludicrous. Let the book and all weird theological speculations, go out in the nature, if something like God exists, I doubt it is just an angry daddy in the sky of a bronze-age tribe of goat herders, we speak of an almighty force that has created this whole universe with all its billions of galaxies and all its complexity.

Jesus didn't write the NT for the same reason Harry Potter, or Tarzan, or James Bond, or Capt. Nemo didn't write the books about his life.

It's really the same as the "Free Will" arguement. Jesus/God takes no action, writes no book. Christians then scramble for a reason that Jesus/God behaves like He doesn't even exist. Atheists do not face this problem where facts do not support assertions.
