he said that the resurection of jesus is the most documeneted event in history, because it was written on 13,000 manuscripts? what the fuck?

This is the evolution of a common apologetic argument. Christian apologists argue that there is more evidence of Jesus than any other ancient figure. But they are counting manuscripts of the gospels as "evidence," without discounting them for their obvious partisanship. And the reason that there are more documents about Jesus is that the church saved and reproduced the documents that mentioned Jesus and ignored the documents on many other figures (think of those medieval monks copying manuscripts).
Your Bible teacher has just expanded this argument from documents that support the existence of Jesus to those that support the resurrection of Jesus. But by these standards, you should believe in the existence of Zeus and the power of the Greek gods to intervene in human affairs. |
