Default The Alpha Course

Hey, has anyone participated in one of these? What did you think about it?

It is a jeebus proselytising movement which originated in England which seeks to get upper middle class people to come back to the Espiscopal church on Sundays.

Well fed healthy white people spreading religion among same. Pass the collection plate.

Very ironic, isn't it? Your post turned out to be the real spam. I was asking a legitimate question, not advertising some goofball group. I was just wondering if anyone here (especially atheists) tried to join in some of their discussions, or even tried to do some anti-proselytizing.

Ya, that's what I thought. I wonder if anyone here has actually sat through one of their orientation sessions to see just how fundamental/literal their beliefs are. I always see them advertised, and was interested when the ads spoke about "meanings of life", but on further examination, it turned out more to be about Bible study.

I will actually withdraw that, Simiangrunt. It seemed so stark and out of place in BC&H that my paranoia became inflamed. When you did not post it in other threads in the same manner, I asked a Mod to remove the post since it was too late to edit it out.

However, with the tread moved, it hardly seems like much of a point to that.

Anyways, the site does have the consistancy of a processed meat product beloved by Vikings in some of the finer English diners.

The first line on the site says it all.

Looking for answers? The Alpha Course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith.
I guess they are selling religion as a kinda magic eight ball.

Sorry, then. I guess it was I who didn't make my intentions clear at the get go (plus I am still new at this, didn't know that I posted in the wrong forum).

I remember reading an article on randi.org about Jacob Spinney who kinda spent some time with a group like the AlphaCourse. I'm interested in hearing more stories about Atheists or non-believers mingling with believers. Also, I find stories of deconversion interesting.

True enough. It has been said that believers and non-believers won't actually convince each other of anything. I wonder how many people who sit on the fence actually become converted to Christianity because of this course.
