But suffice to say that an informed reader will have the rational explanation at once.

Did I? I rather think that I am playing along, except that the best jokes are the shortest. Understood?

Will you say that Mark 1:6 isn't based on 2 Kings 2:8?

Quote:
Mark 1:6 Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.

2 Kings 2:8 "They replied, 'He was a man with a garment of hair and with a leather belt around his waist.' The king said, 'That was Elijah the Tishbite."

Obviously the author of Mark was either liberal in the way he made his references, or his translations of the OT were slightly different than ours.

BTW, Solo, I apologize for my prior reply, it was a bit over the top, sorry.
this understates the case completely.

The book of Mark is entirely based upon and parallel to the Elijah/Elisha stories in Kings.

IMHExperience, Chris has never been eager to share his knowledge, instead prefering the (christian) dodge of demanding that his critics prove him wrong (to his satisfaction) rather than providing evidence that he is right in the first place.

Eh bien, merci de ton soutien! I don't like holy cows. Certains sont plus égaux que d'autres. Si ce n'était pour cela, this thread would have been sent to ~elsewhere~ a long time ago.

And it looks like I am viewed here as a "notorious" "vilain petit canard".

Salutations a la plus grande des petites villes ou a la plus petite des grands villes!

Keep in mind that the same Chris who started this thread, complaining about how good scholarly threads get pushed out by the crap, also started the "Do you think you are a literary scholar" thread in this forum

This thread is getting just a little too personal and off topic. I think I will close it pending a moderator discussion.

(No Robots - do you have a dossier on all of the posters here so you can pull out factoids about them?)
