Asclepius - the popular healer in antiquity
Quote:
Hi gurugeorge, Have a brief look through that article I referenced. He claims to be a Coptic translator who has worked with the raw materials, and he basically says that the name of "Jesus" is not used in the coptic, only the code/aqbbreviation "J_S" where the underscore is really above the J and the S. This is the same situation as our earliest codices of the NT literature (in Greek). The author's statement was that this code "JS" in the coptic can be translated as an abbreviation for the term "Healer" (ie: instead of Jesus). I find this quite relevant to fourth century politics. The temples of the Healer Asclepius were hit the hardest by Constantine 324/325 CE, and the texts of other authors "Apollonius" were targeted for their proper refutation by Eusebius. The Old Healer was OUT. The new Healer was IN. Best wishes, Pete Brown TAOPATTA |
