The Jesus Myth Movement is a Religion
After examining the works of several proponents for Jesus being a myth, it is conclusive that a new religion is being created.
Both Doherty and Hawkins, for example, are seen pulling text out of context and assigning an entirely different philosophical view on it. They assign obscure and unlikely definitions to Greek words. They expound in great detail a new religious philosophy and attempt to connect the dots with scant evidence, or with some crazy off-beat reasoning process. Then, both attempt to construct a philosophy for the likes of Paul and Jesus and sell that bizarre idea in their books. Like any other religion, it's just a scam. Who needs to believe in this rubbish any more than we need to believe Jesus walked across the water, or raised the dead? Why do we need to believe that Jesus was some kind of imaginary character in the mind of Paul, who sent down revelations and a philosophy from some ethereal realm? This new religion is laughable at best, and needs to be exposed for what it is. It's proponents who invent philosophies for this ridiculous movement need to be deconstructed and analyzed like any other religious fanatics. This is the secular web people, and the Jesus Myth movement, and it's ministers, are fair game. |

Oh please. Just redefine the word "religion" and use it as an ad hominem attack on a theory you disagree with.

I agree. Picking apart ridiculous claims is effectively the same as religion. No question.
Here are some other religions: Analyzing audio recordings of Bigfoot to discover manipulated wolf howls. Debunking doctored Lock Ness photos. Subjecting claimants of alien abduction to intense, detailed questioning. Etc. |

More ad hominem.
This reminds me of how biblical creationists try to paint Darwinism as a religion. |
