Default unhelpful post by JonA split from Internet piracy

May I ask, Mr. Doherty, if you have any suspects who you think might be responsible? Of the people you released your book to that signed a contract not to tell anyone the secret things they learned, do you have any idea which of them may have been the ones to break the contract and release the content of your book?

Perhaps you can file a civil case against them.

If what your books contain is anything worth writing about, rest assured that someone else will pick up your slack.

You aren't God's gift to readers. Get off your high chair horse.

Maybe I'm being naive, but do those who steal copyrighted books not realize their own naivete in that they are cutting their own future reading off at the knees?
But people have been 'stealing' the content of books for some time now, and yet books continue to get published. So it would appear that your boogieman is more of a non-existent ghost than an actual monster.

Why bother to author or co-author a response, print or e-book, to Ehrman's upcoming book if I'll be deprived of any return for my work?
Worry not; if you don't do it, somebody else will.

Since my sales on Amazon have nosedived in the last few months (and now I know why), I'll have to look around for a different source of income which the Internet won't sabotage.
You didn't expect this book to provide for you forever, did you?

No. Universities; right outside the testing centers. At $10 a stick, you'll be raking in cash faster than you ever did writin' a book.

Maybe now one can understand the furor which led to SOPA, and why, if it has indeed been shelved, there will only be hell to pay once the industry suffers the full brunt of Internet piracy.
That's nice. Make threats.

My own voice may be a feeble one, but I can't imagine the book and e-book industry will not shortly be screaming bloody murder and moving heaven and earth to reactivate some kind of SOPA and the fate of the Internet be damned.
That's nice; destroy the entire Internet to make a quarter. Good job.

Honestly, it is not the government's job to prop up a failing business model. And that's all you've got here; a business model that hasn't changed since ol' Guty inked his first plate and slammed it on a piece of paper.

But when your business model hasn't been updated in half a millennium, is it any wonder it's failing?

JonA - this is not very helpful. Pirates have not updated their business model in over a millennium, but they are thriving.

I wasn't aware that I was supposed to be helpful.

So this is how FRDB engages in its own censorship? It tucks messages out of the way that it doesn't want to have displayed?

LOL

How is it censorship when you are not being censored and your message is still being displayed.

Your post was just a little too personal. You are not required to be helpful, but there's no need to be a jerk.

I'm not being a jerk. I'm being 100% honest. If it comes off as jerk-ish, that's you reading emotion into a message that has none.

So, jerks are never honest?

Yeah right, JonA. No emotion there.

That crap should just be deleted.
