Default A challenge to CJD

I hereby challenge CJD to start a new thread and defend any prophecy of his choosing that was made and fulfilled in the Old Testament. I also challenge him to start a new thread and defend or reject James Holding's admittedly flagship article titled 'The Impossible Faith.' I predict that CJD will play chicken and refuse to accept both of my challenges.

Why should CJD want to play this game?

sincerely,
Peter Kirby

In order to try to embarrass a skeptic who wants to embarrasss him. Is that not the entire reason that Christians and skeptics have created debate web sites, to attempt to embarrass each other mainly by attempting to influence the undecided crowd? Hardliners on both sides seldom change their minds. I always go after the best competition that I can find, and CJD is a good debator. Following your own same line of reasoning, why should anyone in the formal debate challenge forum ever accept a challenge?

I should never want to enter debate in which the other person had not matured beyond a stage of having the purpose of "embarrassing" the other.

I might accept a debate with Vorkosigan, as he has offered, for instance, because I respect him and think that some good ideas might come out of the discourse.

sincerely,
Peter Kirby

 This is me, with chicken wings.

You ought to know something about my view of prophecy: it doesn't serve as a good apologetic, since all prophecies are conditional, and since most of them were written down after the events supposedly took place. For example, the first part of Isaiah is all about the prophet saying, "I warned you of this impending judgment (of Assyria), folks; and it happened. You better listen up now, now that Babylon is knocking on the door."

Moreover, I'm sure I don't even know this James Holding, and am equally unsure as to why I would defend something he has written.

I will lock this thread, since it seems to be moot. Anyone with any questions may PM me.
