About John P. Meier's reconstruction of Jesus
Just curious to know how Meier responds to the following three questions:
Did Jesus view himself as "more than a man"? Did Jesus claim to be "the Son of God" - thus a divine being? Did Jesus preach he would die for the sins of mankind? It would be very helpful if someone, who has read Meier's books (Marginal Jew series), can briefly sum up his conclusions to the above questions. I browsed through a few chapters of his vol 1, which deals with the reliability of the sources, the criteria etc., but am unable to obtain the other 2 volumes. |

Some of these questions will be easier to answer when the fourth and final volume of 'A Marginal Jew' is finally published.
The fourth volume will IIUC involve a detailed discussion of the events leading up to Jesus' death. Andrew Criddle |
