Default P&T BULLSHIT! - The Bible

Not sure on the specifics exactly but apparantly they are doing a show on the bible. Should be fun!

Also, anyone who would like to comment on the episode they have threads for each show as it is aired. Hope to see some people there.

Penn and Teller are awesome! Did anyone see the one where they put garden hose water in glasses and convince people its super-pricey bottled water? People fell for it like crazy!

I hope lots of people watch this episode. Maybe they will argue for atheism and talk about how all religions are BULLSHIT!

Michael Shermer

Wow I'm definitely looking forward to this episode, Bullshit! has been consistantly great, not to mention long overdue. Since I'm showtime-less I'll have to wait for the DVDs, ah well.

Moving to Media & Popular Culture. If any actual history or criticism of the Bible arises from this thread, I'll split back to BC&H.

Interview with Penn

Quote:
There is no difference between Mel Gibson's faith and the terrorist's faith. We have no evidence that there was a historic Jesus, we have no evidence that he died for our sins. We have no evidence, that we can agree on, for any of that. If you look at the distribution of religion, it tends to be geographical and not intellectual, which is a another discussion.
The article notes Penn's opening monologue:
Quote:
This year we’re doing one show on the Bible and the first monologue that I give is, “if you take this religion on faith and you just say I know it’s hard to believe in, but that’s what God wants me to do and I feel that in my heart we can’t argue with you at all. There’s no room, no move on the chess board, you just go and believe. However, if you want to say what you believe in your heart has some historic accuracy, you’re screwed.

What, precisely, did P&T say in that episode about the Bible?
