I'll leave it you to judge what constitutes a 'good reason' in this instance, but on the particularly question you ask, here's one typical Jewish discussion:

I can find some others for you on the Web if you're interested.

Aparently the Church(I think the Catholic at least) has said that the Old Testament had three kinds of laws' ceremonial' civil and moral.
They say Christians are required to follw the moral laws still' some of which were expanded by Jesus.
They say the civil and cerimonial no longer need to be kept.
I,ve heard there has been some debate about The Old Testament Laws' possibly whether thay are moral' civil or ceremonial.
The person who broke down the laws was a Catholic I think' whether Protestants and other denominations have slightly different reasons for not keeping them I don't know.
Some do keep more of the Old Testament rules like the sabbath for example.
Chris
The Church may make such a distinction, but I don't think the Bible itself does so.

Amazing. So much twisting and finagling to avoid simply obeying the law.

Here are their options:

1. Obey the spirit of the law, which is clear, rather than the letter of the law, which they've equivocated into meaninglessness.

2. Recognize their revered scrolls for what they are (vile), and reject the backward traditions of their ancient ancestors.

3. Concoct elaborate methods to make barbaric texts comport with modern reality, while diminishing the cognitive dissonance enough that they can sleep at night.

The followers of the Abrahamic religions have chosen #3.
