Expect a firestorm this evening even WORSE than when Newdow was decided by the Ninth Circuit. A poll at the Channel 2 News website here in Houston is running 92% against the judge's opinion. Now, we all know how valid most website polls really are, but that is not very far off from what I expected to see.

PS: I checked just before posting and the Channel 2 News website DOES allow multiple voting from a single IP address, so, in the finest tradition of Texas politics, the validity of this poll shares the single most common fault of web polls ... adherence to Lyndon B. Johnson's advice to his supporters ... "Vote early and vote often."

I second that wish ... a ruling against ONUG in a case having an Xian plaintiff would be just about unassailable by the Radical Religious Right.

More detail is out now, this link from NBCnews.com for example. The judge ruled that Congress did not violate the Constitution by adding "Under God" to the pledge in and of itself, but after it was added having it recited in public schools is. Interesting.

It's about time! Too bad a copy of the court's opinion isn't available. I'd like to read that. I just hope that Newdow manages to present a strong enough case to out room for biased rulings when this gets to the Supreme Court.

What would be really sweet is if Roberts gets confirmed and then supports this ruling in the Supreme Court. <I can wish, can't I?>
