I thought Hannam had a degree in library science? Am I confusing people? I think his Shakespeare analogy would be spot on, though. Gakusei Don's I'd read, too. He's fair, in my opinion. I think I already know what Chris Price will do with Acts, and I am a bit surprised to see Kevin Rosero there. At least the crazies from the old days have been left out.
Hannam is our own Bede. He is a historian, and does very well on medieval history, but tends to break down and go apologetic when he writes about early Christianity.

Holding has the degree in Library Science.

Yes, I knew him competent, but I thought James had a library science degree. I was confusing him with Holding, only on degrees though.

The Amazon reviews indicate that Holding has cut back on his invective, but the book is rather elementary. John Loftus has a long review.

Holding has an aggressive reply to every one of the reviews that is at all critical. I think he might not know when to stop.

I think some in this thread are confused. The new book is not The Impossible Faith. That is an earlier work by Holding and was a solo project.

The new book, which responds to the Jesus Myth/Christ Myth, is not out yet and I am certain it has not been reviewed by John Loftus. I believe it will be out mid-summer.

Bede is writing the introduction. There are other contributors, with Holding contributing much material as well and acting as editor.

Richard Carrier was asking about Holding's new Christ-myth book: "However, I am very interested in his new book, and I would be pleased if someone informed me as soon as it became available for purchase." A check of Holding's "What's Up!!!" page finds this entry for March 28, 2008:

Meanwhile I'm still working on the Christ myth book targeting a May release to the publisher.

I see - an earlier post identified the book as the Impossible Faith.

Which I think provides a cautionary note for learning about the new book on this discussion board.

It certainly is, & I for one would have stumped up any amount of money for such a tomb.:Cheeky:

I have noticed that most of the people on this discussion forum like scholarly books about the Bible, but they don't seem to like apologetics books. If JP Holding writes apologetics books and articles, why are people here interested in his book?

People at this discussion forum are interested in the debate over Biblical issues. Apologetic books are generally scorned because the level of their argument is usually rather poor. But there is always the possibility that Holding will come up with a book with more meat in it than the usual apologetic crap, so that atheist debaters can at least have some fun refuting the arguments. Or, alternatively, if Holding just rehashes the usual tired arguments, his book can be held up as one more example of the poverty of Christian thought.

Make sense?
