That rare beast: A New Theory
Welcome to the first public exposure of a new theory as to the origins of Christianity and one that to my knowledge is unique.
The summary that can be found at this link: http://www.serpentlabyrinth.com/inde...irth-of-Christ outlines the Christian element of the new book: Serpent in the Labyrinth, to be published late 2009. Free PDF copies are available on request to members of this forum if they wish to offer critical review. Although the theory is relatively simple the amount of supporting material is not and as such the summary has a number of caveats to keep the word count below 10k. Serpent in the Labyrinth is not an academic work, it is my own personal investigation that crosses several academic subjects (although I trained in archeaology). It is therefore not a thesis loaded with references although key data is referenced in both the book and summary. I also draw attention to particularly contentious academic issues that are used in evidence. For the sake of brevity, the summary does not offer supporting evidence for widely held beliefs. For instance, I believe that the origins of Christianity lie with Jewish apocalyptic belief that was of particular interest to the Essene. I take the view that the Qumran community did write, collect and bury the scrolls rather than it being a pottery factory. There are more and I am sure that these assumptions will be criticised. The Theory. Quite simply Judaism grew out of climate change induced disaster around 3000 years ago and the herald, agent and ultimate judge during that period was destined to make its return a thousand or so years later. This Jesus is the terrifying sky lamb of Revelation but due unforeseen circumstances this return was only partial and as a consequence prophesies of disaster were re-imagined. This concept is not particularly radical but the nature of the lamb and the evolution of the Jewish faith are and I look forward to your critical review. Currently I am struggling with my own self publicity and web authoring (please scroll down through the format data on web page, it should be gone when I learn which button to press) as such the web site is under construction. I am releasing the essay to encourage criticism so as to be able to do a last re-edit of the book. If you have any problems with accessing the essay PM me and I’ll email you a word copy. Would that climate changing induced disaster be a result of the melting glaciers of the last ice age (before earth's climate stabilized around 10,000 B.C.)?
