Misled? Or should I also proclaim that those who believe that Jesus never existed are also deluded? They're both equally wrong.
I think misled might be the wrong term here in 2008.

The little kid last weekend at Sunday school is misled. The guy living in the 13th century is misled. They both lack the tools to realize they've been duped.

An adult living today in 2008 might have at one time been misled, but with all the information we have at our fingertips, to keep on believing is delusional.

I disagree. I think you're misled when you say that it isn't possible without delusion to believe in God. While you and I lack faith, I don't equate faith to mere delusion. There are some deluded ones out there, quite a number of them actually, especially in my opinion where science is concerned. But as far as invalidating evidence for the mere existence of a God, I think you or anyone else will have a hard time disproving all divinities.

Let me ask you a question, have you already completed a fully self-consistent theory of the knowledge with no assumptions included?

Delusion infers that a belief is not based on evidence. You could have a delusion that was in fact true.

I would say that all religious beliefs are delusions, but that various secular theories about how Christianity developed could be wrong.
One who thinks that all of Christianity was fabricated by Constantine and Eusebius is delusional. That crosses the boundaries of what is merely wrong but not insanely wrong. The strong conviction held by you and mountainman into this absurd theory with absolutely no evidence for it is indicative of religious beliefs - that Constantine and Eusebius created Christianity is a religious belief held by you two.

It's a religious belief that stealing is bad. Is that delusional?

"Stealing is bad" is a human belief that became part of religious teaching.

In the same way so is God.
