Persia and the Torah
Is anyone here familiar with Persia and the Torah - The Theory of Imperial Authorization of the Pentateuch, edited by James W. Watts? If so, would you recommend purchasing it?

I've read a lot of it and I think it is well worth the price. Not sure how technical a book you are looking for: this has lots of the big guns talking to each other.
There is some Hebrew, but it is often accompyed with translations. Its a good collection of opinions. Here is a link to a very favourable review: http://www.bookreviews.org/pdf/1828_934.pdf There was a thread on much this sort of topic in the summer, I was going to write a few summaries of a few of the articles, but then I had some massive domestic crises to attend to, and never got around to it. My notes have disappeared from my always crashing computer too. JRL. |
