Mata, you are making the same mistake dozens of other christians have made before you, and that is coming in to this community with nothing but arrogance and empty claims. Maybe you don't realize that you are one of the reasons atheists dislike religious people, so coming in here and antagonizing us without knowing all of our life stories isn't helping the case for christianity.

I volunteer at the Humane Society in between a full college, work, and jiu-jitsu training load. I'm sorry that in my pursuit of higher education, to one day be a teacher and educate thousands of students, I don't have the time to build a house every weekend.

Can you hear that? That scraping sound...the sound of the goal posts being shifted from atheists do no charitable work to atheists do no charitable work...in the tampa bay metro area!

Of course they're both unsubstantiated, but its noteworthy to see he's retreating at least a little bit.

And of course, the statement is made based on his own presumptions, rather than an actual study of statistics...

Bender ... be forewarned that those of us who have been around this board for awhile may mistake you for a past rabid YEC Fundy who went by the same nomenclature several years ago.

Have you been to every charitable organization in the Tampa Bay metro area?
Have you taken polls asking religious affiliation?
What was the sample size?
Which charities were involved?
What is the ratio of Christians to atheists in these charities?
What is the ratio in the general population?

I'm guessing that mata leao is actually suspended? So this thread is dead for now?

Interesting, but false argument. I am right here. That's where I am. I am not a Christian and am agnostic. I donate to many charities, including the Christian Children's Fund, where I sponsor multiple children in other countries.

Now, let me ask you a question. The bloody Iraq war has led to the deaths of over 100K Iraqi civilians. Where is the Prince of Peace and how does this relate to your argument that Western Christianity is "good?" It was Anne Coulter who said after 9-11 that the US should invade Muslim countries, behead their leaders, and convert them all to Christianity. Is that what you think and support? Do you support Pat Robertson and his crusade to assassinate Hugo Chavez?

How can you claim that the Christian West is a good thing when it has resulted in the irrational deaths of millions of people?

You want to argue about the right to life with me, too? Okay, support Universal health care and stop killing 84,000 Americans a year who cannot afford it. Why is the largely Christian Republican Party against it?

I am not a Christian, because its members are clearly in large part an immoral cabal.
