Default The Apologists' Creed

The Apologists' Creed is "Accept the evidence that you find if it appeals to your self-interest, but reject the very same evidence if it does not appeal to your self-interest." It isn't really the evidence that appeals to apologists, but what the evidence promises. Today, if a powerful alien came to earth and claimed to be God, and demonstrated to Christians firsthand that he had what they assumed were supernatural powers, and said that he planned to send everyone to hell, out of self-interest most Christians would choose to believe that the powerful alien lied.
