It looks as though the earlier Islamic Quranic compilers agreed with the gnostic heretics (such as we find in the NHC) that Jesus did not die. This non dying (non-living?) Jesus may have been common knowledge outside the jurisdiction of the orthodox heresiologists in the Roman (Church) Empire.

But what did a gnostic know?

If only the emperors had known that!

Not unless we can provide a sensible reason for it not to be treated with contempt.

Whoever they were they knew what it took to be known as a vile heretic by the official Constantinian canonical heresiologists. Their knowledge might be summarised as an UNBELIEF in the canonical Jesus story. Such unbelief was not becoming to the centralized state monotheistic canonical church.

Constantine was a mocker. (The History of Aurelius Victor)

It was once regarded as anathema to the heresiologists, and it was listed in some of the earliest versions of the "Index Librorum Prohibitorum". We do not know who wrote and preserved it, and why they risked their lives to do so. It represents part of the series of evidence concerning "Christian Origins" classified as the "NT Apocrypha" (the "Hidden" books were "hidden" because they were forbidden). It represents historical evidence to be explained in the whole history of Christian origins. But perhaps you can explain its appearance, when it was first authored, when it was later redacted, the names of the author and redactor, and their alliances, etc.

Not before Constantine, they didn't. What did they know before he darkened the world?

They knew Plato, Pythagoras, Hippocrates, Euclid, Ptolemy, Aesop, Homer, Apollonius of Tyana and others. Constantine suppressed the Greek intellectual tradition where it languished in a christian hell for over 1000 years. We have yet to perceive the complete historical reality of this suppression.

So that's why they faded.

What does this have to do with this thread about supposed Islamic impact on Christianity?

What a fond dream.

Christians would know they are right, just from the times they get blamed for the crimes of their 'Christian' persecutors. Before the absurdities of Islam are considered.

Historic? Maybe Christians experience it every day.

:deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:

The original thread was about the discovery of another non canonical gospel called the Gospel of Barnabas.

Discoveries introduce new evidence into the picture.

Then why are we discussing Plato, Pythagoras, Hippocrates, Euclid, Ptolemy, Aesop, Homer, Apollonius of Tyana and others?
