Can anybody tell me? [how many Christians did Paul arrest before he saw the light]
attn. One and all. Can anybody tell me how many Paul,of the Gospels, while he 'worked' as a Pharisie, sentenced to prison or death, before his epiphiny, and turning to Jesus and God. If I haven't made myself clear on this, maybe I can rephrase myself so you can understand my concern on this subject. I have searched high and lo' far an answer and all I get is ,I don't know. "Cheers" Roadslayer:huh:

There is no definite answer to your question, as far as I know. Acts 8:3 implies that he imprisoned a lot of Xians without giving any specific numbers. Paul didn't go into details about this in his epistles.

Yeah, there's no answer. Nobody knows what exactly Paul did, before or after his "epiphany."

Maccoby doubts that Paul was ever a Pharisee. If Paul had been assigned to track down Christians, he would have been a member of the temple police, and a Saducee. But it seems unlikely that Paul actual persecuted Christians and put them in prison or sentenced them to death. The stories about that come from Acts, which cannot be shown to be historically reliable. If Paul was active in the middle of the first century, Christians were probably a sect of Jews who worshipped in the usual synagogues. The split between Christians and Jews happened later. This is all speculation. There is no reliable history. |
